A Year To Remember

This is the story of how the village of Holt in Wiltshire came together, developed and supported a magnificent cascade of handmade poppies to be installed at St Katharine’s Church and around the village.

Helen Bennett-Gray was the mastermind behind the Cascade. When she approached FROM YOU TO ME for sponsorship of the Cascade Concert she was planning to host, we decided we could offer more.

We are all about stories and memories, so together with the village, we have created ‘A Year To Remember’ as a book for the event. It tells the stories of how the poppies have been created, how the cascade concert came about, and also many real-life stories and photographs donated by locals about how their family and friends were involved in the wars.

It started as an idea over coffee … and has become a superb memory for the village of both this event and of some village history.

The Cascade Concert took place on Sunday, 3rd November 2024, featuring the West Wiltshire Good Afternoon Choir and the Warminster Military Wives Choir performing moving songs of remembrance. Additionally, well-known local personalities read real-life stories from the book.

The main journal was used at the Cascade of Poppies Concert and was signed by the poppy makers and choirs and others involved in the event.

This version is made to order for you and will be the same quality as the original book. The signatures of those involved have been scanned from the original book and added to this version that will be printed.
